Job summary

Noble Recruiting is seeking an Environmental Compliance Manager based in Maldon, Essex, to lead a small team and partner with staff, suppliers and regulators to deliver environmental improvements. The role requires in-depth knowledge of UKTR, EUDR, FSC UK/PEFC, and timber industry experience; travel within the business may be required; 8:00am to 5:00pm, on-site. You will develop governance processes, monitor supplier due diligence, and report to the Board.

Qualifications

• Must have real passion to drive change in timber industry environmental compliance
• Strong and recent background within Timber Industry with knowledge of UKTR, EUDR, FSC UK and PEFC
• Experience in timber trade supply chain or forest management
• Auditing and training skills relevant to compliance programs
• Confident liaising with boards and external committees

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a small environmental compliance team
• Work with management and purchasing to govern environmental compliance and purchasing
• Ensure processes comply with UKTR, EUDR, FSC UK, PEFC and other regulations
• Maintain due diligence with suppliers and coordinate with external providers
• Report to government bodies, certification schemes and trade associations
• Provide training materials and communications for internal and external stakeholders
• Collaborate with Quality Manager to embed environmental compliance into procedures

Noble Recruiting have a fantastic opportunity - looking for an experienced Environmental Compliance Manager based in Maldon, Essex

The successful candidate will manage a small team, work closely with staff across the company, engage with the suppliers, customers, NGOs and government to ensure the successful delivery of environmental improvements across the company.

Salary: £50,000 per annum + company benefits detailed at interview stage

Location: Maldon, Essex

Position: Full time - Permanent, On Site - with some foreign travel required within the business requirements of the position.

Hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday

Your Role within the Company:

• Work with the management and purchasing team to manage corporate environmental compliance and purchasing governance.
• Ensure all processes comply with the FSC UK, UKTR, EUDR, Construction Products Regulation, Modern Slavery Act Compliance.
• Maintain a robust due diligence system to ensure compliance with the UKTR, including assessing and auditing suppliers, and coordinating with external service providers.
• Act as a key point of contact for any legal compliance queries, both internal and external.
• Reporting to government enforcement bodies, certification schemes and trade associations.
• Monitoring progress and reporting to the Board of Directors.
• Representing the company at external committees, supporting wider industry improvements.
• Developing internal training materials, marketing and communication content and coordinating with relevant external service provides.
• Work with the Quality Manager to ensure environmental compliance is successfully incorporated into company procedures.

• Experience in timber trade supply chain or forest management.
• Confident liaising with governing boards and the Board internally and representing the company at external cmmitties.
• Experience with developing marketing, training material and communication content.
• Auditing and training skills.
• Strong influencing skills.
• Analytical, rigorous attention to detail.
• Own transport is essential.
