Job summary

Bradley David Associates is partnering with a well-established timber industry business in Maldon, Essex, to recruit an Environmental Compliance Manager. The role leads a small team, governs environmental standards, and coordinates with internal teams, suppliers and regulators.

You will drive compliance with UKTR, EUDR and related frameworks, implement due diligence for timber legality, and report to the MD on environmental performance and improvements.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in environmental compliance, preferably in timber or wood products.
• Strong knowledge of timber legality, responsible sourcing and certification standards.
• Good understanding of UK Timber Regulation (UKTR) and due diligence requirements.
• Experience managing supplier compliance across timber supply chains.
• Excellent analytical and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee environmental compliance across the business to meet UK and international regulations.
• Ensure compliance with UKTR, CPR, MSA and EUDR.
• Maintain due diligence systems for timber legality and responsible sourcing.
• Conduct supplier assessments, audits and risk evaluations.
• Collaborate with purchasing and management to strengthen governance.
• Be the main point of contact for internal and external compliance queries.
• Liaise with government bodies, certifiers, trade associations and regulators.
• Monitor performance and report to the Board.
• Represent the business at industry groups and environmental initiatives.
• Develop training and communications on environmental matters.
• Work with Quality Manager to integrate compliance into processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve sustainability and responsible sourcing.
