Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley is seeking a Graduate Environmental Specialist to join our environmental team in Leeds and support live water and wastewater projects. You will identify environmental risks across the project lifecycle and help develop practical mitigation measures, while working with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or a directly related subject.
• A basic understanding of environmental disciplines and project risks, such as ecology, archaeology, drainage, contaminated land, landscape and noise.
• Awareness of the planning process and the role of environmental surveys, permits and consents in supporting construction activities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, good organisation and attention to detail, and a collaborative, proactive approach to problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Help identify environmental risks throughout the project lifecycle, from solution definition to completion
• Support project teams to develop practical environmental mitigation measures, considering compliance, safety, cost, programme and social impacts
• Help plan and coordinate specialist environmental inputs, including ecology, heritage and archaeology, so that activities are completed at the right time and to the required standard
• Work alongside other specialists to assist with environmental deliverables, including environmental management plans, permit and consent applications, and associated technical reports
• Work collaboratively with design and construction teams, clients, regulators and other stakeholders to support positive environmental outcomes
