Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company in Preston seeks an Environmental Manager to lead permit compliance at a nuclear licensed facility. You will report to the Head of Environment and help establish a new environmental function, delivering practical, hands-on support to secure regulatory adherence.

You will balance strategic planning with operational delivery, develop the Environment Team, and drive continuous improvement across processes, documentation, audits, and regulator engagements.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of environmental permitting requirements on a nuclear or regulated site.
• Experience interpreting permit conditions within operational environments.
• Experience onboarding and mentoring colleagues and teams.
• Understanding of audit and regulatory inspection processes.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with the site's environmental permit and regulatory requirements.
• Review and improve environmental compliance processes and provide practical guidance to operations.
• Identify gaps, implement corrective actions, and support regulator engagement.
• Develop the Environment Team, onboard and mentor staff, and establish robust processes.
• Develop systems, procedures and documentation to support permit compliance, records and reporting.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations and safety to embed environmental requirements.
