Job summary

Leicester City Council in Leicester is recruiting for a full-time street cleansing operative. You will work across the city, removing litter and detritus, and supporting snow clearance in winter, with a 37-hour week and early/late shift patterns.

Role involves walking long distances, using cleaning chemicals and equipment, and collaborating with colleagues to keep streets clean, safe, and presentable for residents and visitors.

Qualifications

• Able to carry out cleaning duties using chemicals and equipment.
• Physically fit to undertake long periods of walking.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to work in a team.
• Willing to work varied shift patterns and early mornings.

Responsibilities

• Remove litter, leaves, detritus, illegal dumping, dog fouling, graffiti street washing and empty bins in your area.
• Support snow clearance during winter months.
• Maintain health and safety while working on the streets and report hazards.
• Operate as part of a team to keep streets clean across Leicester City.
