Location: Stevenage (office-based, with travel across multiple project sites)
Contract Type: Full-time, permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Qualifications Required: NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)

We are currently seeking an experienced Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to join a leading engineering and installation team based in Stevenage. This is a key role supporting multiple technically complex building services projects, where safety, quality, and compliance are paramount.

The Role:

Working from the Stevenage office and across various project sites, you will lead the delivery of robust EHS systems and ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation. You'll play a vital role in promoting a positive safety culture while supporting operational teams with practical, hands-on guidance across all stages of project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead all EHS compliance activities on-site, ensuring alignment with UK legislation and best practice.
  • Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training sessions.
  • Carry out risk assessments, inspections, and audits, with follow-up on actions and improvements.
  • Provide guidance on safe systems of work and method statements during planning and execution phases.
  • Investigate incidents thoroughly and identify root causes and preventive actions.
  • Liaise directly with clients and external stakeholders on all EHS-related matters.
  • Champion a proactive health, safety, and environmental culture across project teams.
Requirements:
  • Proven EHS management experience, ideally within pharmaceutical, FMCG, or similarly regulated environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of EHS legislation and high-compliance safety practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • A practical, hands-on approach to managing health and safety in live project environments.
  • Membership of IOSH and/or IEMA.
  • Previous experience within mechanical, electrical, or building services contracting.
  • Familiarity with working in controlled environments, including shutdowns and highly regulated sites.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced, quality-focused business where your expertise will make a genuine impact across multiple high-profile engineering projects.
