Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Health, Safety and Environment Manager to join our team based at our site in Kingswinford.

The purpose of the role is to ensure compliance with relevant standards and continually improve our performance and culture in HSE, as measured by metrics including but not limited to: accident measures, near misses, action completion, audit schedule adherence, carbon footprint, recycling, sustainability, and energy consumption.

Additionally, the role involves guiding the transition of HSE ownership from a traditional single functional structure to a more agile and effective cross-functional model. A specific focus on risk assessment rationalisation is essential, along with creating robust handover plans for business areas to take ownership of arising issues.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Monitoring the Kingswinford and UK operations for adherence to the H&S system, ensuring risk assessments and controls are maintained and up to date by the management team.
2. Tracking the completion and efficacy of actions arising from risk assessments and audits.
3. Conducting independent audits of the Kingswinford facility and implementing management safety walks.
4. Creating robust handover plans for business areas to ensure ownership, including local and business-level reporting.
5. Ensuring compliance with environmental standards, including emissions such as ESOS and waste management.
6. Seeking opportunities to reduce emissions and energy consumption across the UK operation, including fleet and remote working.
7. Scheduling external statutory examinations and risk assessments as required.
8. Updating the legal register with received updates and advising managers to ensure compliance.
9. Developing the near miss reporting process to promote proactive actions.
10. Assisting managers and supervisors with toolbox talks.
11. Tracking and monitoring the HSE improvement programme, ensuring action completion.
12. Maintaining ISO45001 (ISO8001) and ISO14001 certifications.
13. Liaising with HSE statutory bodies as appropriate.
14. Automating KPI reporting for the Kingswinford facility and integrating it into business-level automation where possible.
15. Providing HSE updates as a member of the UK management team and communicating risks and required actions clearly.
