Job summary

National Grid is hiring a Solution Architecture Lead in Warwick for a permanent, hybrid role. You will set architectural standards, orchestrate Product Line Architects and own design assurance, architecture runway and enterprise solution architecture.

The role emphasizes patterns, non-functional requirements, and evidence-based design decisions across multiple lines of business, with leadership responsibilities and a strong delivery track record.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing and governing Azure-based cloud-native applications.
• Strong track record delivering microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Experience of design assurance, architecture patterns and non-functional standards at scale.
• Proven ability to lead architecture for cross-functional teams in a matrixed organisation.

Responsibilities

• Own the design assurance process: define which solutions require architecture review and chair the design review forum.
• Provide a written architecture assurance position on major investments prior to sanction.
• Own the architecture decision record and exception process with clear ownership and timelines.
• Publish the architecture pattern library and non-functional requirements across performance, security and sustainability.
• Define costed option assessments and ensure evidence-based decision-making.
• Lead architecture community forum and shape the architecture career pathway and hiring standards.
• Manage the solution and domain architect team and drive high-quality documentation.
