Job summary

Johnson Controls seeks a Security Systems Design Engineer to design and develop enterprise‑level electronic security solutions for UK projects. Hybrid working from Sunbury, Letchworth or Birmingham enables delivery of CCTV, ACS, IDS and PIDS across multi‑million‑pound deployments, with a focus on quality designs and documentation.

You will produce detailed system designs, conduct site surveys and collaborate with sales and project teams to support bids and deployment.

Qualifications

• Experience in the electronic security industry in a Design, Commissioning or Service role.
• Strong technical knowledge of CCTV, Access Control, IDS and Perimeter Detection.
• Ability to interpret architectural, electrical and network drawings.
• Experience producing or supporting technical system designs and documentation.
• Understanding of integrated security solutions and related technologies.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Visio.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Full UK driving licence and eligibility for UK Security Clearance (SC).

Responsibilities

• Design integrated electronic security systems including CCTV, ACS, IDS and PIDS for projects from small installations to enterprise-scale.
• Produce detailed designs, system architectures, schematics, specifications and supporting documentation.
• Conduct site surveys and assess customer requirements to develop compliant, cost‑effective security solutions.
• Collaborate with sales and project teams to support bid activities, solution development and delivery.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting throughout design and implementation phases.
• Liaise with customers, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure successful outcomes.
• Prepare and maintain documentation using Microsoft Office and Visio; review drawings to support design.
• Ensure designs meet customer specifications, industry standards and security requirements.
