Job summary

Byerley Park Primary School in Newton Aycliffe, Durham, is seeking an Enhanced Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team for term-time work, 16.25 hours per week, during term time plus two weeks, with mornings 9.00–12.15 and afternoons to be negotiated.

We require 5 GCSEs A-C including English and Maths; CACHE Level 3 or NVQ Level 3 TA; experience with SEND; strong communication, organisational skills and ability to work independently and in a team. An enhanced DBS check is required.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals and groups of children in class.

The Head Teacher and Governors are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, caring, creative, enthusiastic and experienced teaching assistant to join our dedicated team in as soon as possible.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience of working with individuals and groups of children as well as supporting in class.
• Has experience of covering a whole class in the absence of a teacher.
• Has experience of working with children with a range of SEND needs.
• Shows enthusiasm, dedication and commitment to the role and the school as a whole.
• Has high expectations and a drive to succeed.
• Has the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Demonstrates excellent behaviour management skills
• Is highly organised and has good time management skills
• Demonstrates good English and Mathematics skills
• Has excellent communication skills, both oral and written

The successful candidate must have 5 x GCSE grades A-C, including English and Maths, (or equivalent).

CACHE Level 3 or NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.

Term time only plus two additional weeks’ pay is calculated on the basis of the following:

• Number of ‘teaching’ weeks – 38 weeks; plus
• Public (bank) holidays – 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus
• Two additional weeks, inclusive of CPD – 2 weeks; plus
• Individual leave entitlement - 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days)

Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years’ service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years’ service will receive 32 days annual leave. For example:

Calculation for employees with less than 5 years’ service:

40 weeks (term time plus 2) + 27 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 47 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments

Calculation for employees with more than 5 years’ service:

40 weeks (term time plus 2) + 32 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 48 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments
