Job summary

Governing Body invites applications for a teaching assistant to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will support individuals and groups of children in class, cover a whole class in the absence of a teacher, and work with children with a range of SEND needs.

The role requires 5 GCSEs A-C including English and Maths (or equivalent) and a CACHE Level 3 or NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.

The Head Teacher and Governors are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, caring, creative, enthusiastic and experienced teaching assistant to join our dedicated team as soon as possible.

• Has experience of working with individuals and groups of children as well as supporting in class.
• Has experience of covering a whole class in the absence of a teacher.
• Has experience of working with children with a range of SEND needs.

• Has the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Demonstrates excellent behaviour management skills
• Is highly organised and has good time management skills
• Demonstrates good English and Mathematics skills
• Has excellent communication skills, both oral and written

The successful candidate must have 5 x GCSE grades A-C, including English and Maths, (or equivalent). CACHE Level 3 or NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent. The Governing Body is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Any offer of employment will be subject to an enhanced disclosure DBS check.

Temporary post required as soon as possible until 31/08/27, Part-time 16.25 hours per week. Mon - Fri - 9.00 - 12.15, Afternoon hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant. Term time only plus 2 weeks.

Term time only plus two additional weeks' pay is calculated on the basis of the following:

• Number of 'teaching' weeks - 38 weeks; plus
• Public (bank) holidays - 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus
• Two additional weeks, inclusive of CPD - 2 weeks; plus
• Individual leave entitlement - 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days)

Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years' service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years' service will receive 32 days annual leave. For example: Calculation for employees with less than 5 years' service: 40 weeks (term time plus 2) + 27 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 47 weeks' pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments Calculation for employees with more than 5 years' service: 40 weeks (term time plus 2) + 32 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 48 weeks' pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments.
