Job summary

Fernways School, part of Kedleston Group, is an independent specialist school in Windlesham, Surrey, seeking an enthusiastic English Teacher to support young people with SEND and ASD. You will deliver high-quality English lessons and help learners progress towards their next steps.

The role requires QTS, experience teaching English in SEND/ASD contexts, and a strong grasp of dyslexia and inclusive teaching.

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher status (QTS) is essential.
• Proven English teaching experience, preferably in SEND or ASD settings.
• Strong knowledge of dyslexia, communication needs and inclusive teaching strategies.
• Experience with assessment frameworks (GCSE, Functional Skills, Entry Level).

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality English lessons tailored to diverse learning needs.
• Collaborate with clinicians, parents and staff to adapt teaching strategies.
• Model effective English practice and provide guidance to colleagues.
• Align curriculum with EHCP targets and progression towards adulthood.
• Lead English department responsibilities as required.
