Job summary

GSL Education Nottingham is seeking an enthusiastic English Teacher to inspire pupils and improve literacy, reading and writing skills. You will plan engaging lessons, assess progress and support learners with varied needs, including SEND/SEMH, in a welcoming, well-managed classroom.

The role is permanent and full-time, based in Nottingham, with term-time only consideration. QTS or equivalent is required, and you will join a supportive team committed to high expectations and safeguarding

Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent teaching qualification required.
• Strong English knowledge across literacy, reading, writing and grammar.
• Experience teaching or supporting secondary-aged pupils, including those with SEND/SEMH.
• Effective classroom management and ability to handle challenging situations.
• Strong communication, adaptability and relationship-building skills.

GSL Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and adaptable English Teacher to work in an educational setting in Nottingham. This role would suit a teacher who can deliver engaging, accessible lessons and support pupils who may have experienced barriers to learning, including those with SEND and SEMH needs.

About the Role

As an English Teacher, you will deliver tailored lessons in reading, writing, spelling, grammar, and communication. You will create a supportive and structured learning environment, adapting your teaching to meet individual needs and helping pupils develop essential skills, improve their confidence, and make progress towards their learning goals.

Key Responsibilities of the English Teacher

• Plan and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to pupils' individual abilities and learning needs.

As the Ideal English Teacher, You Should Have

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Strong subject knowledge in English, including literacy, reading, writing, and grammar.
• Experience teaching or supporting secondary-aged pupils, ideally including those with SEND or SEMH needs.
• Effective classroom management skills and the ability to respond calmly to challenging situations.
• Strong communication, adaptability, and relationship-building skills.
• A patient, resilient, and encouraging approach, with a genuine commitment to helping young people overcome barriers to learning.

To Work with GSL Education, You Must

• Have the right to work in the UK.
• Hold an up-to-date CV and provide references covering the last two years.
• Have recent experience working with children or young people.
• Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
