Job summary

Simply Education is recruiting an experienced English Lead Teacher for a specialist SEMH setting in the Chesterfield area, supporting pupils aged 11-16. You will lead the English curriculum, influence teaching across the school and mentor colleagues while delivering high-quality lessons in a supportive environment.

You will have UK QTS or equivalent and strong English teaching experience, with a focus on SEND/SEMH needs and small class sizes to personalise learning.

Qualifications

• UK QTS or equivalent is required.
• Strong experience teaching English.
• Leadership, subject leadership or curriculum development experience.
• Good understanding of SEND and/or SEMH; awareness of ASC and complex needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of the English curriculum.
• Teach engaging and accessible English lessons.
• Coach and mentor teachers, including ECTs and colleagues with additional responsibilities.
• Use assessment and pupil data to identify progress and development areas.
• Conduct classroom observations and contribute to performance management.
• Lead departmental meetings and drive high standards in teaching and learning.
