Job summary

Babcock International in Walsall is seeking a Training and Competency Manager to build and lead a new function, developing workforce capability for specialist vehicle engineering. You will design a long-term competency and qualifications strategy, align pathways with business needs, and enable growth while collaborating with senior stakeholders.

The role requires leadership, experience in training/competency programmes, and the ability to navigate regulatory requirements; on-site, 37.5 hours

Qualifications

• Leadership and people development capability.
• Experience designing and delivering training, competency, or workforce development programmes.
• Ability to interpret and apply regulatory and compliance frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver a long-term competency and qualifications strategy across vehicle engineering.
• Develop qualification pathways and oversee apprenticeship programmes from enrolment to completion.
• Implement training systems, learner tracking, and competence assurance processes; manage the training budget.
