Overview

Engineering Technician - Electrical

Location: Fairfield Independent Hospital

Contract: 37.5 Hours & Permanent

Fairfield Independent Hospital in St Helens, part of Circle Health Group, is Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare, performing more complex surgeries than any other private healthcare provider nationwide.

We are seeking an Engineering Technician to join our hospital team and the wider cluster engineering team. This is a full-time role for 37.5 hours per week, requiring flexibility in shift patterns.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure prompt completion of all work orders for planned maintenance, reactive responses, specialist subcontract work, and remedial work.
  • Provide routine and specialized engineering maintenance and breakdown support to the hospital site.
  • Offer technical, health, safety, and environmental support, acting as an exemplar of company policies and procedures.
  • Train, mentor, and assist site-based Technicians or Engineering Assistants.
  • Provide engineering support and advice to hospital managers as needed.
  • Maintain high engineering standards with integrity and foster a positive team ethos.
  • Comply with all mandatory training requirements.
Candidate Requirements
  • Current Construction Safety Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card at the appropriate level; if electrically qualified, a current Electro-technical Certification Scheme (ECS) Card is required.
  • City & Guilds Part 3, ONC, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Willingness to act as AP and RP Medgas as required.
  • Time-served apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical discipline.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Health and Safety guidelines, statutes, and ACOPs.
  • Understanding of L8 Legionella ACOP within hospital buildings.
  • Strong organization and time management skills, especially with multiple priorities.
  • Sound fault-finding techniques and ability to read drawings.
