Job summary

Proactive Global is seeking an Engineering Technician to join a highly automated warehouse operation in Worksop. This hands-on role responds to faults, carries out planned maintenance and helps keep automated systems operating safely and efficiently.

You will diagnose mechanical, electrical and automation faults, work with engineering teams, maintain records and support continuous improvement while following Health & Safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience with machinery, maintenance, electrical equipment or automation.
• Level 2 engineering qualification or significant relevant experience.
• Understanding of planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
• Fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
• Willingness to work at height.
• Ability to climb a 30-metre ladder with training.
• Good organisational and prioritisation skills.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Understanding Health & Safety requirements.

Responsibilities

Engineering Technician

We are currently recruiting for an Engineering Technician to join a team supporting a highly automated warehouse operation in Worksop.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you will be responsible for responding to equipment faults, carrying out planned preventative maintenance and helping to keep the site's automated systems operating safely and efficiently.

The role would suit an engineer or technician with experience in machinery, maintenance, electrical engineering or automation, who enjoys fault finding and working in a fast-paced environment.

The Role

As an Engineering Technician, you will:

• Respond promptly to reactive faults and breakdowns across the automated warehouse.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and equipment servicing.
• Diagnose, investigate and rectify mechanical, electrical and automation faults.
• Escalate unresolved or recurring issues to the relevant engineering team or external support.
• Monitor equipment performance and minimise downtime and disruption.
• Work closely with site colleagues and customer engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
• Carry out repairs in line with manufacturer recommendations and industry standards.
• Complete technical cleaning and maintenance of automated areas and equipment.
• Identify recurring faults and suggest improvements to equipment reliability and performance.
• Maintain accurate records and follow relevant engineering procedures.
• Support continuous improvement and help maintain high automation standards.
• Follow all Health & Safety, quality and site procedures.
• Work independently while also contributing effectively as part of the wider engineering team.
• Provide professional and positive customer service as a frontline engineering representative.

About You

We are looking for someone who is practical, proactive and confident troubleshooting technical equipment.

Essential:

• Experience working with machinery, maintenance, electrical equipment or automation.
• Level 2 engineering qualification or significant relevant engineering experience.
• Understanding of planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
• Demonstrable fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
• Willingness and ability to work at height.
• Comfortable climbing a 30-metre vertical ladder following appropriate working-at-height training.
• Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise reactive and planned maintenance.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable:

• Experience within industrial, manufacturing, warehouse automation or materials-handling environments.
• Electrical or mechanical engineering qualifications.
• Experience with electrical/mechanical fault finding and repairs.
• Previous experience in a customer-facing engineering role.
• Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical and electronic drawings/manuals.
• Basic understanding of PLC-controlled equipment.
• PC literacy.
• Previous experience working on automated warehouse or intralogistics equipment.
