Job summary

Morgan Hunt is seeking an experienced Construction Technician for a well-established FE College in South London on a long-term temporary basis. You will support practical lessons, maintain workshops and equipment, and help prepare materials to ensure safe, well-run learning environments.

You will work closely with curriculum teams to deliver high-quality construction education, providing hands-on assistance to lecturers and learners across various construction disciplines in a supportive,

Qualifications

  • Experience in construction industry or educational workshop environment.
  • Knowledge of construction tools and safe working practices.
  • Relevant vocational qualifications in Construction.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and setting up workshops, tools, equipment, and materials for practical sessions
  • Supporting lecturers and students during practical activities
  • Maintaining workshops to ensure a safe and effective learning environment
  • Carrying out routine maintenance, stock control, and ordering of materials
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and college procedures
  • Assisting with the organisation and storage of equipment and resources
  • Supporting curriculum delivery across construction programmes where required

Job description

Are you an experienced Construction Technician looking for your next opportunity within Further Education? We are currently seeking a dedicated and proactive Construction Technician to join a well-established FE College in South London on a long-term temporary basis.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality construction education, working closely with teaching staff and learners across a range of construction disciplines.

The Role:

As a Construction Technician, you will be responsible for supporting practical lessons, maintaining workshops and equipment, preparing materials and resources, and ensuring that all learning environments are safe, organised, and fully operational. You will work closely with curriculum teams to provide an outstanding learning experience for students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparing and setting up workshops, tools, equipment, and materials for practical sessions
  • Supporting lecturers and students during practical activities
  • Maintaining workshops to ensure a safe and effective learning environment
  • Carrying out routine maintenance, stock control, and ordering of materials
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and college procedures
  • Assisting with the organisation and storage of equipment and resources
  • Supporting curriculum delivery across construction programmes where required
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working within the construction industry or an educational workshop environment
  • Good knowledge of construction tools, equipment, and safe working practices
  • Relevant vocational qualifications within Construction
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A commitment to supporting learners and maintaining high standards
  • Competitive hourly rate of £30 per hour
