Job summary

Entrust Resource Solutions is seeking a mechanically focused Engineering Technician in Dundee to maintain production equipment within a regulated manufacturing environment. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical systems, assist with electrical fault-finding, and document activities in the CMMS.

The role requires hands-on experience with conveyors, pumps, valves and motors, plus familiarity with HMI interfaces.

Qualifications

• Recognised engineering qualification (City & Guilds, ONC, OND or equivalent).
• Strong mechanical maintenance experience in manufacturing/production.
• Practical experience with conveyors, pumps, valves and motors.
• Experience using HMI interfaces.
• Some exposure to electrical fault-finding or diagnostics.
• Experience as Engineering Technician, Maintenance Technician, Mechanical Technician or Multi-Skilled Engineer.
• Good understanding of planned and reactive maintenance processes.
• Comfortable with maintenance software, email and Microsoft applications.
• Strong health and safety awareness and safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across production and site equipment.
• Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical equipment including conveyors, pumps, valves and motors.
• Use HMI systems to monitor equipment, identify faults and support diagnostics.
• Support basic electrical fault-finding within your competence.
• Investigate equipment failures and contribute to improvements in performance and reliability.
• Complete maintenance records, shift handovers and equipment history logs.
• Record and manage maintenance activity in CMMS.
• Follow engineering procedures, GMP requirements and site safety standards.
• Observe safe systems of work, permits, risk assessments and incident reporting.
• Support production colleagues with equipment operation and shift-based training.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized working environment.
• Experience in regulated environments (pharma/Life sciences/food) advantageous.

We are supporting a well-established pharmaceutical manufacturing organisation in Dundee with the appointment of a mechanically biased Engineering Technician.

This is a hands-on maintenance position supporting the safe and reliable operation of production equipment and associated site systems. The successful candidate will have strong mechanical maintenance experience, alongside enough electrical knowledge to confidently assist with fault-finding and equipment issues.

You will work within a regulated manufacturing environment where safety, equipment reliability and accurate maintenance documentation are essential.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across production and site equipment.

• Use HMI computer interface systems to monitor equipment, identify faults and support diagnostics.

• Complete maintenance records, shift handovers and equipment history logs accurately.
• Use computerised maintenance management systems to record and manage maintenance activity.
• Ensure all work is completed in line with engineering procedures, GMP requirements and site safety standards.
• Follow safe systems of work, including permits to work, risk assessments, COSHH requirements and incident reporting.
• Support production colleagues with equipment operation and shift-based training where required.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.

What we are looking for

• A recognised engineering qualification such as City and Guilds, ONC, OND or an equivalent qualification.
• Strong mechanical engineering and maintenance experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
• Practical experience working with conveyor systems, pumps, valves and motors.
• Experience using HMI computer interface systems.
• Some exposure to electrical engineering, fault-finding or equipment diagnostics.
• Previous experience working as an Engineering Technician, Maintenance Technician, Mechanical Technician or Multi-Skilled Engineer.
• A good understanding of planned and reactive maintenance processes.
• Comfortable using maintenance software, email and Microsoft applications.
• Strong awareness of health, safety and safe working practices.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a shift-based engineering team.

Experience within a pharmaceutical, life sciences, food, FMCG or similarly regulated manufacturing environment would be advantageous. Previous GMP experience is desirable but not essential.

The opportunity

This is a strong opportunity for a mechanically focused technician to join a regulated manufacturing operation and broaden their exposure to electrical maintenance, automated equipment and HMI-controlled systems.

The position offers a basic salary of £35,000–£38,000, plus a 12.5% shift allowance, taking total annual earnings to approximately £39,375–£42,750.
