Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to support planned and preventative maintenance across a manufacturing environment in the United Kingdom. You will lead a small team of 3 multi-skilled engineers to drive uptime and productivity, ensuring high standards and smooth handovers between shifts.

The role requires electrical and mechanical engineering experience, strong fault-finding and root-cause analysis, and a commitment to safe working practices (PUWER/IOSH).

Qualifications

• Electrical and mechanical engineering experience.
• Fault finding and root-cause analysis skills.
• Knowledge of maintenance in FMCG/manufacturing environments.
• H&S knowledge (PUWER, IOSH) for a safe workplace.
• Structured and practical engineering training (apprenticeship/HNC/degree).
• Coaching and mentoring skills for training others.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of planned and preventative maintenance.
• Develop and engage a small team of 3 Multi Skilled Engineers to drive effectiveness of the engineering team.
• Ensure daily preventative maintenance activities are completed to a high standard, breakdowns are resolved quickly.
• Lead complex maintenance tasks, ensure required parts are available, and handover to next shift.
• Lead short interval control meetings with the production team.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Develop and engage a small team of 3 Multi Skilled Engineers to drive the effectiveness of the engineering team in reducing downtime and increasing productivity.
• Ensure daily preventative maintenance activities are completed to a high standard, breakdowns are resolved quickly and efficiently.
• Take the lead on more complex maintenance tasks, ensure required parts are available, and be responsible for a detailed handover to the next shift team.
• Lead the short interval control meetings with our production team.

Requirements

• Electrical and Mechanical engineering experience
• Fault Finding and Root Cause Analysis skills
• Knowledge and experience of maintenance preferably in an FMCG or manufacturing environment.
• H&S knowledge e.g., PUWER, IOSH – able to ensure a safe working environment.
• Structured and practical engineering training (e.g. apprenticeship/HNC/degree).
• Coaching and mentoring skills, takes responsibility for the training and coaching of others.
• Analysing and problem-solving skills, anticipates problems before they occur and takes steps to deal with them correctly and swiftly
• Communication and relationship building skills.
