Job summary

Siemens Energy in Manchester is seeking a senior leader to drive the day-to-day operations of a Grid Automation engineering team focused on secondary systems design. You will allocate work, resolve conflicts, and uphold standards while supporting engineers through technical and professional challenges.

Lead conversations with customers, project managers, and discipline leads, and champion digitalization to improve quality and efficiency across the team.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience guiding engineers and teams.
• Strong communication with customers and senior stakeholders.
• Judgment under pressure balancing delivery, quality and team well-being.
• Senior-level experience in high voltage substation secondary design, including protection schematics and AC/DC supply.
• Collaborative servant‑leadership style empowering others.
• Interest in engineering process improvement and digitalization.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations and manage team priorities and conflicts.
• Set and maintain consistent standards and ways of working.
• Coach and develop engineers for technical and professional growth.
• Represent domain in project discussions with customers and cross‑discipline teams.
• Champion digitalization and adoption of new engineering tools.
• Communicate effectively with engineers, customers, suppliers, and senior stakeholders.
