Job summary

Siemens Energy Limited in the United Kingdom is seeking a Manager / Team Leader to head a dedicated Grid Automation engineering team. You will steer day-to-day operations, allocate work, manage priorities, and guide engineers through technical and professional challenges.

You will uphold engineering standards, drive process improvements, and represent the domain in discussions with customers and project managers.

Join a dedicated team where your leadership will drive the success of secondary systems design! In this role, you will focus on leading the day-to-day operations and continuous improvement of an engineering team within Grid Automation. You will allocate work, manage priorities, and resolve conflicts while supporting engineers through technical and professional challenges. Your ability to maintain consistent standards and ways of working will be crucial as you represent your domain in discussions with customers, Project Managers, and other discipline leads. • Proven Leadership Experience: Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, or mentor engineers, with a focus on their development.
• Strong Communication Skills: Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to represent your domain to customers and senior leadership.
• Judgement Under Pressure: A track record of making sound decisions while balancing team well-being, delivery pressure, and quality.
• Technical Credibility: Senior-level experience in high voltage substation secondary design, including protection schematics, AC and DC supply design, interlocking, and interface definition.
• Collaborative Leadership Style: A servant-leadership approach that empowers others while holding accountability.
• Interest in Process Improvement: A genuine interest in engineering process improvement and digitalization, with the judgment to assess the value of new tools and methods.
