Job summary

Sodexo Group is recruiting an Engineering Supervisor to lead a skilled team of engineers at the University of Greenwich's Avery Hill Campus in London. You will manage day-to-day hard FM services, ensure safety, compliance and high standards across student residential estates.

As an engineering supervisor you will drive maintenance activities, support a proactive safety culture, and coordinate with multiple stakeholders to maintain reliable engineering services for thousands of students and staff.

Qualifications

• HND, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years' experience within a building services or facilities management environment.
• Previous experience supervising or managing engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of planned and reactive maintenance within commercial or public sector environments.
• Experience managing contractors and service providers.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Competent IT user with experience of CAFM systems.
• Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop a team of multi-skilled engineers.
• Oversee the safe operation and maintenance of M&E systems across student accommodation buildings.
• Coordinate reactive and planned maintenance activities through our CAFM system (MAXIMO).
• Ensure all statutory compliance, health and safety legislation and Safe Systems of Work are adhered to.
• Act as a key technical expert, supporting fault diagnosis and resolution across electrical and mechanical systems.
• Manage contractors and specialist suppliers, ensuring quality, safety and value for money.
• Support recruitment, training, performance management and career development within the engineering team.
• Conduct audits, inspections and compliance reviews to maintain operational excellence.
• Work collaboratively with the Engineering Lead, Facilities Management team and University stakeholders.
• Manage critical spare stock and materials to support service continuity.
• Undertake the role of Low Voltage Authorised Person (LV AP) for the campus.
