Job summary

Sodexo is recruiting an Engineering Supervisor to lead a team of engineers at the University of Greenwich's Avery Hill Campus in London. You will oversee daily hard FM service delivery, ensuring safe, compliant maintenance of building services across student residences.

With 5+ years in building services and a strong track record in leadership, you will drive service excellence, manage contractors and support career development within the team.

Qualifications

• HND, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in building services or facilities management.
• Experience supervising or managing engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of planned and reactive maintenance in commercial/public sectors.
• Experience managing contractors/service providers.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Competent IT user with CAFM experience.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation and Safe Systems of Work.
• Previous LV AP appointment or familiarity with LV systems.
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop a team of multi-skilled engineers.
• Oversee safe operation and maintenance of M&E systems across student housing.
• Coordinate reactive and planned maintenance via MAXIMO.
• Ensure statutory compliance and health and safety requirements.
• Provide technical expertise for fault diagnosis across electrical/mechanical systems.
• Manage contractors and suppliers for quality and value.
• Support recruitment, training and performance within the team.
• Conduct audits and compliance reviews to maintain excellence.
• Collaborate with Engineering Lead, FM team and stakeholders.
• Manage spare stock and materials to support continuity.
• Undertake LV Authorised Person role for the campus.

About the Role

As Engineering Supervisor, you'll lead the day-to-day delivery of hard FM services, ensuring planned and reactive maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

What you'll do

• Lead, motivate and develop a team of multi-skilled engineers.
• Oversee the safe operation and maintenance of M&E systems across student accommodation buildings.
• Coordinate reactive and planned maintenance activities through our CAFM system (MAXIMO).
• Ensure all statutory compliance, health and safety legislation and Safe Systems of Work are adhered to.
• Act as a key technical expert, supporting fault diagnosis and resolution across electrical and mechanical systems.
• Manage contractors and specialist suppliers, ensuring quality, safety and value for money.
• Support recruitment, training, performance management and career development within the engineering team.
• Conduct audits, inspections and compliance reviews to maintain operational excellence.
• Work collaboratively with the Engineering Lead, Facilities Management team and University stakeholders.
• Manage critical spare stock and materials to support service continuity.
• Undertake the role of Low Voltage Authorised Person (LV AP) for the campus.

What you'll bring

We're interested in hearing from experienced building services professionals who combine strong technical knowledge with excellent people management skills.

Essential Experience & Qualifications

• HND, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years' experience within a building services or facilities management environment.
• Previous experience supervising or managing engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of planned and reactive maintenance within commercial or public sector environments.
• Experience managing contractors and service providers.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Competent IT user with experience of CAFM systems.
• Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and safe working practices.
• Previous Authorised Person (AP) appointment in LV, Mechanical Services, Pressure Systems, Confined Spaces or similar.
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations.
• Experience working in complex university, healthcare, heritage or large public-sector estates.
• Institute of Leadership & Management membership.
