Job summary

South West Recruitment Ltd in Poole, Dorset, seeks an experienced Logistics Team Leader - Stores & Packing for a hands-on, leadership role in an engineering manufacturing environment. You will oversee the Stores and Packing teams (about seven staff) and ensure materials flow smoothly through production and despatch.

Working with Supply Chain and Production, you’ll coordinate the team to hit daily and weekly targets, manage workloads, shifts, stock accuracy and site safety.

Qualifications

• Previous team leadership or people management experience.
• Strong organisational, planning and prioritisation skills.
• Experience of stock control and inventory management.
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
• Good knowledge of Health & Safety in a warehouse/manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the Stores and Packing team.
• Manage staff across shift rotas, ensuring staffing and coverage.
• Organise daily workloads, priorities and resources.
• Ensure materials and components move efficiently through production and despatch.
• Maintain accurate stock and inventory records.
• Coordinate goods inwards and resolve delivery discrepancies promptly.
• Manage packing activities to meet customer deadlines.
• Monitor team performance, and support training and development.
• Run daily team meetings and toolbox talks.
• Support recruitment, inductions and ongoing training.
• Manage holidays, absence and return-to-work processes.
• Ensure quality, Health & Safety and SOPs are followed.

Monday - Thursday: 8.00am - 4.30pm
Friday: 8.00am - 1.00pm
Overtime: Available after standard working hours

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

We are recruiting for an experienced Logistics Team Leader - Stores & Packing to join a well-established engineering manufacturer based in Poole, Dorset.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the day-to-day running of the Stores and Packing teams, managing approximately seven employees and ensuring materials and components flow efficiently through the manufacturing operation. The position covers goods inward, stock control, stores, packing and the movement of parts throughout production.

The Role

Working closely with Supply Chain and Production, you will coordinate the team and ensure daily and weekly targets are achieved.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and coordinating the Stores and Packing team.
• Managing employees working across different shift rotas, ensuring appropriate staffing and coverage.

• Monitoring KPIs and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency.

• Investigating stock, packing and stores issues and helping prevent recurrence.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone with previous experience in a Stores, Warehouse, Logistics or Materials environment, ideally within engineering or manufacturing, who is confident managing people and coordinating a busy operational team.

You should have:

• Previous team leadership or people management experience, ideally including employees working across shift patterns.
• Strong organisational, planning and prioritisation skills.
• Experience of stock control and inventory management.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
• Good knowledge of Health & Safety within a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to lead, motivate and develop a team.
• An understanding of production planning, purchasing or materials would be advantageous.
• Experience of Lean/Continuous Improvementwould also be beneficial.
