IMI plc Poole is seeking a Team Leader for the Store and Packing areas within the Supply Chain. You will lead a logistics team, coordinate stores, and drive on-time delivery through lean improvements.

The role requires strong people management, ERP/MRP understanding and a focus on process excellence to support machining and assembly operations in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading a logistics team to meet performance, quality and delivery targets.
  • Strong ability to manage day-to-day team activities and resources.
  • Experience conducting performance reviews and developing staff.
  • Experience with recruitment, onboarding and induction for new team members.
  • Knowledge of health, safety policies and COSHH assessments.
  • Understanding of lean principles and continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with ERP / MRP principles.
  • Understanding of production planning, purchasing and materials.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and develop a logistics team to achieve performance, quality and delivery targets.
  • Manage day-to-day team activities, ensuring resources are effectively deployed to meet business requirements.
  • Conduct performance reviews, support employee development and identify training needs.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and induction activities for new team members.
  • Monitor attendance, performance and wellbeing, addressing issues per company policies.
  • Work closely with production and planning teams to ensure materials and products flow efficiently through the business.
  • Drive stock accuracy through inventory management, cycle counting and stock control processes.
  • Coordinate packing, stores and dispatch activities to ensure customer orders are delivered on time.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, using Lean principles and root cause analysis to improve performance.
  • Monitor and report on key operational KPIs, implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality and environmental standards, including risk and COSHH assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records, procedures and training documentation to support audits and regulatory requirements.
  • Support warehouse and logistics operational excellence through TPM, Kanban and other Lean methodologies.
  • Act as a key point of contact within the logistics function, collaborating with internal stakeholders to deliver business objectives.

Role Overview

As Team Leader of the Store and Packing areas you will represent a key role within the Supply Chain Function. Managing a team you will be involved in the day to day expediting & coordination of components and services throughout the business from goods inwards, through Stores. Ensuring stock accuracy and objectives are met and maintained. This role also incorporates the co-ordination of parts and services sourced internally and externally to support the requirements of machining and assembly areas within IMI Poole which will involve extensive communication and coordination across all areas of the business to pull the product from final Packing and through the Stores areas driving world class on time delivery to our customers.Continuous improvement is paramount having a thorough understanding of lean tools and how they link to KPI’s. Actively drive team and process to become world class and sustain.

Key Responsibilities

Duties will include but not be limited to:

Critical Competencies for Success
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills are essential
  • Good strong team player with the ability to influence others and lead a team
  • Demonstrable experience in people management
  • Strong PC skills, able to use Microsoft office suite, including but not limited to; Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written (in English).
  • Have a thorough understanding of Health and safety requirements within the workplace.
  • Demonstrable experience of continuous improvement and lean principles.
  • Good understanding of ERP / MRP principles.
  • Good understanding of production planning / purchasing / materials
