Job summary

MotionTech is hiring an Engineering Site Manager in Northamptonshire to lead a 12-person resident engineering team on-site, ensuring continuous uptime and compliance. You will report to the Customer Service Account Manager and drive improvements across the site’s maintenance program.

The role requires proven leadership in engineering/maintenance, health and safety expertise, and experience managing contractors. On-site, Monday to Friday, 24/7 coverage presence. Salary £66,260 with on-site duties.

About the role

MotionTech provides engineering and maintenance support to automated distribution and logistics sites across the UK. This site runs 24/7, and you'd be embedded on-site as part of the customer's operation, with real accountability for how engineering performs here.

As Engineering Site Manager, you'll take full responsibility for engineering on this site, reporting to the Customer Service Account Manager. You'll lead a team of twelve resident engineers covering the site 24/7, keeping the automated system running safely and reliably. Success here means consistent uptime against KPIs, a compliant and well-run team, and a strong working relationship with the customer.

Key responsibilities

You'll:

• Lead a team of 12 resident engineers, covering the site around the clock
• Manage contractors on-site through permit-to-work and the customer's H&S plan
• Deliver system uptime against agreed KPIs and keep service records up to date
• Drive Planned Preventative Maintenance through the site's CMMS
• Own line management, development, and annual appraisals for your team
• Identify lifecycle repair and replacement needs to support long‑term asset planning
• Support the site's on-call escalation rota, covering engineering issues outside normal hours
• Build a strong working relationship with the customer, communicating clearly at every level

What you'll bring

Essential

• HNC or equivalent in engineering, ideally with an electrical bias
• Proven experience in an engineering and maintenance leadership role
• IOSH or NEBOSH qualification
• Solid working knowledge of Health & Safety requirements in an engineering environment
• Experience managing contractors through a permit-to-work system

Useful, not essential

• Experience with CMMS and PPM scheduling systems
• Background in conveyor or logistics automation environments
• Exposure to Continuous Improvement or World Class Maintenance principles
• Confidence managing purchasing for spares and consumables
