Anglian Water Group Ltd. is seeking a Digital Engineering Manager to lead the Software Engineering Practice and shape software delivery across the organisation. The role combines technical credibility with people leadership and strategic influence.

You will cultivate an environment where engineers can thrive, enforce engineering standards, and ensure secure, scalable digital products are delivered by a team of permanent staff and delivery partners.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading software engineering teams or practices in a complex tech environment.
• Strong software engineering background with ability to engage at strategic and detailed levels.
• Experience building high-performing teams and developing technical talent.
• Knowledge of modern software practices, cloud-native delivery, DevOps, AI and engineering governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Software Engineering Practice across Anglian Water.
• Foster a quality-focused engineering culture with collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Define engineering standards, guardrails, patterns and best practices.
• Partner with Product, Architecture, Cyber and other Digital teams to align software with strategic outcomes.
• Provide leadership and line management for senior software engineers.
• Support workforce planning, capability growth, recruitment and succession planning.
• Champion modern engineering practices including DevOps, automation, observability and secure-by-design delivery.
• Drive engineering maturity using metrics and insights.
• Identify opportunities to simplify and improve delivery.
