Job summary

Cummins Inc. in the United Kingdom seeks an Engineering Manager for Vehicle Dynamics Controls. You will lead braking controls software development, guiding a multi-disciplinary team to deliver ABS, EBS, and ESC solutions for commercial vehicle platforms.

Responsibilities include strategy, calibration, simulation, validation, and model-based development using MATLAB/Simulink. You will ensure safety and reliability through MIL/SIL/HIL testing and ISO 26262 compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Automotive, Computer Engineering or related technical field.
• Significant experience developing braking controls software, embedded systems, or mechatronic solutions in commercial vehicle/automotive environments.
• Experience leading engineering teams, managing technical projects or complex product development programs.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle dynamics, electro-pneumatic braking systems, control logic development, simulation, calibration, and validation methodologies.
• Experience with ISO 26262 and embedded software development (C, C++, Python).

Responsibilities

• Lead development and delivery of advanced braking controls software for commercial vehicle platforms (ABS, EBS, ESC, brake force distribution, brake blending).
• Provide technical and people leadership to a team of controls, software, and systems engineers.
• Drive control strategy definition, requirements, algorithm design, calibration, simulation, and validation activities.
• Oversee model-based development and simulation using MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, TruckSim/TruckMaker.
• Ensure braking control systems meet performance, safety, quality, and reliability targets via MIL/SIL/HIL testing.
• Champion ISO 26262 compliance and safety-critical software processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across electronics, mechatronics, mechanical, validation, safety, product management, and suppliers.
• Lead technical reviews, root cause investigations, risk assessments, and corrective action planning.
