Job summary

Interaction Recruitment is partnering with a well-established manufacturing and recycling business in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, to appoint an Engineering Manager. You will lead a team of maintenance engineers, drive reliability, and steer continuous improvement across the site.

The role offers a base salary of £60,000–£65,000 with an annual bonus, 37.5 hours per week, Mon-Fri, and excellent benefits.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading maintenance teams in manufacturing.
• Strong ability to diagnose PLC faults and implement fixes.
• Track record managing maintenance budgets and KPIs.
• Familiarity with CMMS/MMS software and workflows.
• Excellent verbal and written communication across teams.
• Proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of maintenance engineers.
• Drive proactive preventative maintenance culture.
• Oversee planned and reactive maintenance activities.
• Manage engineering budgets and maintenance expenditure.
• Monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with statutory inspections and Health & Safety regulations.
• Manage engineering stores and critical spare parts.
• Support equipment upgrades, capital projects and new installations.
• Manage external contractors and suppliers.
• Improve plant reliability, efficiency and overall site performance.

As Engineering Manager, you'll take ownership of the maintenance function at a busy processing facility, leading a team of engineers and driving reliability, performance, and continuous improvement across the site.

About You

You’ll ideally have experience as an Engineering Manager, Maintenance Manager, Engineering Supervisor, Reliability Manager or similar within a manufacturing, recycling, production, process, or heavy industrial environment.

You will also possess:

• Strong engineering leadership experience
• Knowledge of PLC fault finding and diagnostics
• Experience managing maintenance budgets and KPIs
• Familiarity with CMMS/Maintenance Management Systems
• Excellent communication and people-management skills
• A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
