Qualifications

• Several years’ experience managing software engineering teams.
• Substantial background in software development before moving into leadership.
• Experience leading teams through growth and organisational change.
• Strong technical understanding of modern software engineering principles.
• Experience working on complex, customer-facing digital products.
• Ability to understand technical challenges and make sound engineering decisions.
• Proven coaching, mentoring and developing engineers.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Commercially aware approach balancing technical quality with delivery and business objectives.
• Experience working within Agile development environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of software engineers, providing coaching, mentoring and technical leadership.
• Help create a high-performing engineering culture focused on quality, collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Work closely with Product and other technology stakeholders to turn business requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Contribute to engineering strategy, technical decision-making and long-term development plans.
• Support recruitment and the continued growth of the engineering team.
• Champion effective software development practices and help improve engineering standards.
• Ensure teams have the processes and support required to deliver reliable, maintainable software.
• Help identify opportunities to improve development efficiency and engineering productivity.
• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership.
• Encourage a pragmatic approach to problem-solving, learning from challenges and continuously improving the technology estate.
