Job summary

Mitie is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and control engineering activity across Nationwide's South administration offices in Swindon, ensuring safe, compliant, and resilient operation of critical building services.

You will oversee day-to-day delivery, manage teams and contractors, and drive maintenance, risk management, and continuous improvement to uptime and service continuity.

Qualifications

• Recognised electrical, mechanical or building services engineering background with relevant technical qualifications.
• Strong engineering management experience in critical environments or 24/7 settings.
• Experience acting as an Authorised Person (AP) or eligible to hold AP appointment.
• Solid understanding of planned and reactive maintenance, safe systems of work, permit controls and risk management.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and managing specialist contractors within a critical environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day engineering delivery across the South administration site portfolio, ensuring availability and safe operation of critical infrastructure.
• Manage engineering teams, suppliers and subcontractors with clear priorities and escalation routes.
• Ensure PPM, statutory compliance and critical maintenance are delivered to programme with recovery plans.
• Coordinate reactive maintenance and incidents with minimal operational impact.
• Promote safety, compliance, resilience and continuous improvement through governance and performance monitoring.
