Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the engineering intent on a major National Grid project in East Anglia, ensuring safe, buildable solutions through design and construction. The role is site-based (3 days a week) with strong interface duties across disciplines and stakeholders.

You will drive constructability reviews, manage design queries, and oversee change control while supporting project schedule, cost and risk objectives.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline; Chartered or working towards professional registration.
• Proven experience integrating design and construction on complex projects.
• Strong working knowledge of CDM and engineering assurance practices.

Responsibilities

• Own engineering intent on the project from design development through construction delivery.
• Lead integration of permanent and temporary works and construction sequencing; chair constructability reviews.
• Ensure compliance with CDM and engineering governance; implement safe‑by‑design and assurance activities.
• Provide leadership for site-driven changes; manage technical risk escalation.
• Operate engineering change control: evaluate options, document decisions, secure approvals.
• Support construction delivery with timely engineering decisions and coordinated information release.
