Job summary

Marks & Spencer in the United Kingdom is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead engineering teams responsible for Azure-based microservices, APIs and event-driven architectures, integrating with Blue Yonder and other SaaS platforms as part of our AI-first, engineering-led transformation.

You will partner with architects, product managers and SaaS vendors to define technical roadmaps, drive delivery and raise engineering standards while modernising legacy systems and championing DevOps,

Qualifications

• Senior-level software engineering leadership with a proven track record of guiding teams
• Experience designing, building and operating scalable Azure microservices and distributed systems
• Expertise in event-driven architecture, API design, asynchronous messaging and enterprise integration patterns
• Experience integrating enterprise applications with workforce management platforms or similar SaaS platforms
• Ability to modernise legacy technology and advocate DevOps and end-to-end service ownership

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor high-performing engineering teams.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership across Azure microservices, APIs and event-driven patterns.
• Drive design and delivery of integrations with Blue Yonder and other SaaS platforms.
• Collaborate with product, architecture and engineering leaders to define technical roadmaps and dependencies.
• Drive quality, reliability and observability with DevOps practices and strong service ownership
