Job summary

IntaPeople in Cardiff is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead the Core engineering team and drive modernisation with AI-assisted and agentic development. You will shape delivery standards and own the test strategy across Europe.

The role is leadership-focused, not coding, with 4 direct reports and a move to Oracle APEX alongside tooling investments. A discretionary bonus and strong benefits accompany the package.

Qualifications

• Experience leading and growing engineering teams.
• Track record of measurably improving a team’s delivery and output.
• Experience introducing new ways of working and bringing a team with you.
• Confidence communicating with senior leaders and business stakeholders.
• Software engineering background (read/assess code, not writing production code).

Responsibilities

• Lead modernisation: AI-assisted and agentic development, set standards and measure impact.
• Shape technical direction: move to Oracle APEX, invest in tooling and debt management.
• Own delivery: accountable for commitments, remove blockers, report to leadership.
• Build a great team: hire, coach, 1:1s, psychological safety, growth.
• Be the team’s voice: manage upwards, flag risks early, build cross‑functional relationships.
