Job summary

Corevia Search is seeking an Engineering Manager for its London-based AI scale-up. You will lead 6–8 engineers, spending ~70/30 on leadership and hands-on work, and drive delivery of high-impact projects in Go or similar backend tech.

The role focuses on scalable, low-latency systems, mentoring engineers, and shaping technical strategy with senior leaders. Hybrid work with London office visits roughly every two weeks.

Qualifications

• Experience leading teams of 6–8 engineers.
• Strong engineering foundation with hands-on coding.
• Experience with high-throughput or distributed systems is essential.
• Deep understanding of scalability, latency, reliability, concurrency and system design.
• Proven track record with production systems at significant scale.
• Strong programming skills in Go or another modern backend language.

Engineering Manager – AI Scale-Up - London (Once a week) - Up to £180,000

Its platform handles around 10,000 transactions per second at roughly 50ms latency, and demand keeps climbing. Now they need an Engineering Manager to lead one of the teams keeping it fast, reliable and ready for what’s next.

What the job looks like

You’ll lead 6–8 engineers, splitting your time roughly 70/30 between leadership and hands-on work in code, system design and technical investigations. You’ll:

• Build a high-performing team through feedback, mentoring and clear career growth
• Own delivery of complex, high-impact projects and set your team’s technical direction
• Help design systems where throughput and milliseconds really matter
• Embed strong practices in scalability, reliability, testing and performance
• Influence strategy and priorities alongside senior engineering and product leaders

What you’ll bring

• Experience managing teams of around 6–8 engineers as an Engineering Manager or similar
• A strong engineering background, and the appetite to stay hands-on
• Experience with high-throughput applications or distributed systems (essential)
• A deep grasp of scalability, latency, reliability, concurrency and system design
• A track record with production systems at significant scale
• Strong programming skills in Go or another modern backend language
• The judgement to make sound technical calls and the leadership to bring people with you

The package

• Salary up to £180,000, depending on experience
