Job summary

Plentific is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the product engineering organisation, overseeing frontend, backend, mobile, and QA across multiple teams. You will drive agentic tooling, SDD adoption, and mentorship of team leads while maintaining high engineering standards.

You will stay hands-on to unblock progress, contribute code where needed, and partner with product and design to shape delivery. London-based, hybrid work culture offered.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable track record managing engineering managers and team leads across multiple teams.
• Deep technical knowledge across modern software engineering with hands-on coding to unblock progress.
• Fluency in Python and TypeScript with production experience in both.
• Experience integrating or productionising ML systems in real products.
• Hands-on experience with agentic development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex).
• Curiosity about AI's impact on software engineering and new tooling and practices.
• Proven ability to recruit, hire, and retain senior engineers and managers.
• Experience designing live coding assessments and structured interviews at scale.
• Ability to address under-performance directly, set expectations early, and provide timely feedback.
• Pragmatic, business-focused mindset; able to explain trade-offs to executives.

Responsibilities

• Lead the product engineering organisation through its team leads, owning delivery and quality across frontend, backend, mobile, and QA.
• Contribute code to improve agentic tooling and the developer experience; review PRs deeply for quality.
• Set a high bar for engineering standards, reviews, testing, observability, and architecture.
• Champion agentic and spec-driven development; roll out the SDD framework and track impact on throughput and quality.
• Partner with engineering leaders to refine tooling and governance; treat framework/tools as products for users.
