Job summary

Linear Recruitment Ltd is seeking an Engineer to support the Regional Technical team and on-site operations across a residential development setting. The role focuses on feasibility studies, site viability, and ensuring alignment with programme and NHBC standards.

You will liaise with consultants, manage tendering processes, and advise on planning, design, and regulatory requirements while supervising junior team members and coordinating site infrastructure meetings.

Qualifications

• A relevant qualification or strong experience in technical design, and/or civil engineering.
• Knowledge of engineering requirements of the house building industry and the legal framework associated with Technical standards and requirements.
• Knowledge of engineering standards and regulatory requirements relevant to residential development.
• Ability to interpret Building Regulations and British Standards.
• Strong numerical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical/engineering support to the land/development team to assist during feasibility studies and lead in the preparation of site viability reports in line with current regulatory requirements for residential development.
• Identify the need for external consultants, agree fees, the scope of service capability, timescales and deliverability.
• Manage relationships with consultants to ensure the flow of information is within the agreed timescales and in accordance with, and on schedule with the programme and in line with the National Housebuilding council standards.
• Be aware of and act upon commercial implications relating to planning & architectural design; civil & structural engineering design; geotechnical & ground remediation strategies; statutory services new supplies & diversions.
• Assist in the process of tendering for, setting-up and establishing on site management companies, whilst implementing the group procedures and ensuring all legal aspects in relation to various agreements.
• Interact with internal departments, consultants, suppliers and sub-contractors as necessary in order to achieve Building Regulations and warranty approval and satisfactory conditions discharge.
• Assist in the preparation of key status reports and updates on all KPIs relating to the Technical function.
• Co-ordinate the appointment of utilities, including designs, quotes and any required agreements.
• Responsible for managing the Adoption process.
• Provide engineering support to site teams and Internal departments.
• Be present on site and lead on relevant technical meetings relating to the procurement and approval of site infrastructure.
