Job summary

Europe’s leading design, engineering, and regulatory consultancy organisation seeks an on-site Resident Engineer for a high-spec residential scheme. You will oversee mechanical building services installation, testing, and commissioning, ensuring compliance with designs, codes, timelines and budget, and coordinating with contractors and clients.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and building controls.
• Experience supervising mechanical services installation/commissioning.
• Familiarity with UK/international building regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead on-site mechanical engineering authority and safeguard design integrity.
• Inspect installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, controls).
• Verify compliance with drawings, specifications, standards, and safety requirements.
• Review contractor submittals, method statements, and shop drawings.
• Document and resolve technical queries and non-conformances with design office support.
• Witness key testing and commissioning activities and verify performance.
• Manage progress for mechanical packages and participate in progress meetings.
• Coordinate with main contractors, subcontractors, and clients to deliver quality within budget.
• Maintain records, photos, test certificates and handover documentation.
• Promote safety, quality and sustainable design principles on site.
