Job summary

HSBC in London is seeking an experienced engineer to own the RCA and Regulation Management book of work within Risk and Compliance Technology. You will lead the full engineering lifecycle from discovery to production, delivering secure, scalable services that meet regulatory standards and drive faster, safer decisions across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing, building and running secure services in regulated environments.
• Hands-on Java or Python engineering with high-performance, concurrency and distributed patterns.
• Experience with event-driven and distributed systems, low-latency architectures.
• Strong knowledge of containers, Kubernetes, cloud, service mesh, event streaming and observability.
• Experience automating delivery and operations (CI/CD, deployment automation, performance testing).
• Practical expertise across architecture, APIs, data flows, deployment pipelines and code quality.
• Agile product delivery with outcome-led backlogs and frequent business feedback.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and explain technology decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery of the RCA and Regulation Management book of work, achieving milestones.
• Oversee engineering across full lifecycle from discovery to production support and improvement.
• Build secure, resilient capabilities with clear ownership across architecture, backlog, release and run.
• Champion modern software engineering practices including Agile, DevSecOps, trunk-based development, automated testing and CI/CD.
• Embed AI-enabled engineering practices across design, development, testing, security and operations with governance.
• Improve observability and resiliency through stable production and controlled releases.
• Align technology with HSBC standards and regulatory expectations across stakeholders.
