Job summary

Wise is looking for an Engineering Lead in London to guide the Recommend team. You will lead engineers, partner with product managers to shape roadmaps, and own the tech strategy for the referral platform, building scalable, resilient systems.

You’ll stay hands-on when needed and drive a culture of delivery and continuous improvement. You’ll mentor engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure campaigns and onboarding flows scale globally, delivering delightful user experiences

Qualifications

Proven experience in leading and mentoring software engineers.
Strong product and customer mindset.
Excellent communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience with scalable, distributed systems.
Hands-on coding when needed to guide the team.

Responsibilities

Lead, coach, and mentor a team of driven engineers, supporting their growth and empowering them to do their best work.
Shape the roadmap with the Product Manager and set the technical and product vision across key levers.
Own the technical strategy and delivery of our referral and word of mouth platform, including hands-on work as needed.
Ensure the team is well-resourced, can plan effectively, and commits to and delivers on the roadmap.
Participate in on-call rotation and maintain high standards for quality and reliability.
