Job summary

Virgin Active is seeking an Engineering Lead - Integration to provide technical leadership across backend services, APIs and integrations that power our digital ecosystem. You will design, build and guide complex delivery within Azure, ensuring secure, scalable solutions and high observability.

You will collaborate with Product, QA, Data and frontend teams to deliver end-to-end solutions, drive standards, perform architecture reviews and mentor engineers while managing risk and technical debt.

Qualifications

• Significant software engineering experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Hands-on with C#, .NET and Microsoft Azure.
• Experience building backend services, RESTful APIs and integration solutions.
• Strong knowledge of API-led, event-driven and asynchronous integration patterns.
• Experience designing scalable solutions across internal and third-party systems.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring and DevOps practices.
• Experience leading technical delivery and supporting other engineers.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of backend services, APIs and integrations.
• Own complex initiatives from design through to deployment.
• Design and develop C# and .NET solutions within Azure.
• Set engineering standards and lead code and architecture reviews.
• Guide engineers through complex technical challenges.
• Work with Product, QA, Data and frontend teams to deliver solutions end to end.
• Improve system reliability, security, performance and observability.
• Lead incident resolution and help reduce technical debt.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies and delivery challenges.
• Share knowledge and support strong engineering practices across the team.
