Job summary

Tameside Council’s Engineering Service seeks an experienced Engineering Design Manager to lead civil and structural design teams and deliver infrastructure improvements. You will provide technical leadership, coordinate design services, and ensure delivery to high standards for highways, drainage and public realm projects.

The role focuses on team performance, governance, and development, with flexi-time and a base at the Tame Street Depot, Stalybridge.

Qualifications

Relevant professional qualification for the job role at Level 6 or above.
Management qualification is required.
Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in the role.
Maintained membership of a regulated body where this is required to practice.
Professional standards practised to the highest expected level.

Responsibilities

Lead on the identification and management of external funding opportunities and bid processes.
Provide technical leadership and support across the design team.
Deliver design and project management expertise in a public sector context.
Drive performance, governance and development of staff in the design team.
Coordinate delivery of highway, drainage, and public realm projects.
