Job summary

Tameside Council’s Engineering Service is seeking an experienced Engineering Design Manager to lead its civil and structural design teams, delivering infrastructure improvements. You will coordinate design services, provide technical leadership, and ensure delivery in line with standards and council policies.

Based at the Tame Street Depot, Stalybridge, the role includes managing a 36-hour flexi-time scheme.

Qualifications

• Requires delivery of design and project management expertise.
• Experience with programme, project and contractual management.
• Awareness of commercial practices within a construction environment.
• Strong leadership and team development skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support civil and structural engineering design teams.
• Deliver design services and project management in a consultancy capacity.
• Identify and manage external funding opportunities and bid processes.
• Oversee LLFA duties and highway/ infrastructure schemes.
