Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Maintenance Accounting Lead to oversee month- and year-end closes across Vista operators, ensuring correct treatment of accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and capitalisation under IFRS.

You will manage a small team, partner with Group Accounting and Finance, and drive governance, controls, and improvements across maintenance accounting and reporting for multiple jurisdictions in a dynamic aviation/engineering context.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent.
• 7+ years post-qualification experience in financial accounting or controllership.
• Maintenance accounting experience required.

Job description

• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities for maintenance-related accounting across Vista operators
• Ensure appropriate accounting treatment for maintenance costs, accruals and prepayments, heavy and component maintenance, capitalisation, depreciation, provisions, and judgemental estimates
• Maintain governance over maintenance-related balance sheet accounts and ensure timely review and clearance of reconciliations
• Review and approve journals and accounting outputs prepared across the maintenance finance team
• Ensure accurate and well-supported maintenance accounting inputs into management and statutory reporting
• Act as the primary accounting point of contact for maintenance during internal and external audits
• Liaise with Group Accounting, Tax, and Finance teams on Group policies and IFRS requirements
• Partner with Finance Business Partners to ensure maintenance activity is appropriately reflected in financial reporting
• Promote consistent maintenance accounting practices across operators and jurisdictions
• Own and maintain the maintenance accounting control framework
• Drive improvements to processes, controls, and documentation
• Support finance transformation and system initiatives impacting maintenance accounting
• Lead and develop a team of two maintenance accountants
• Partner with Finance Business Partnering teams on governance and decision-making
• Engage with Maintenance, Engineering, Procurement, and Accounts Payable teams to ensure accurate financial records

Requirements

• Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
• 7+ years’ post-qualification experience in financial accounting, controllership, or finance manager roles
• Maintenance Accounting experience required
• Demonstrated people leadership experience
• Strong technical accounting and audit knowledge
• Excellent communication skills, able to provide clear guidance and judgement
• Strong Excel skills
• ERP and aviation or engineering exposure advantageous
