Job summary

Amblecote Primary School is seeking a Cover Supervisor to join our supportive team. The role involves supervising classes during short-term teacher absences and ensuring smooth day-to-day learning experiences for pupils.

The post is fixed-term maternity cover until 31 December 2027, with start as soon as possible or January 2027. It is based at Amblecote Primary School, Stourbridge, 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, and the salary is published in the advert.

Qualifications

• Has experience of working with primary-aged children.
• Has excellent behaviour management skills and high expectations for all pupils.
• Can confidently supervise and motivate groups of children.
• Has good literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
• Is organised, adaptable and able to use their initiative.
• Can work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers, delivering pre-prepared learning activities.
• Maintain a positive, purposeful and orderly learning environment.
• Manage pupil behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policy.
• Support pupils to engage with their learning and complete set work successfully.
• Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding pupil participation, progress and any issues arising.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and act as an excellent role model.
• Support the school's commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school, including educational visits, school events and enrichment opportunities.
