Job summary

Leicestershire County Council Shared Lives Service is seeking a personal assistant to support a 16-year-old young gentleman with autism and a learning disability. The role requires driving to accompany him to activities, with emphasis on routine, safety and sensory regulation.

The candidate must assist with personal care, follow halal dietary requirements for meals, and accompany him to parks, beaches and activity centres. A male caregiver is requested in line with regulations.

Qualifications

• Must be able to support a non-verbal teenager with autism and learning disability.
• Must be willing to drive and accompany to activities and appointments.
• Ability to follow routines, maintain calm during sensory overwhelm.

Responsibilities

• Accompany to venues and activities such as parks, pools and centres.
• Provide personal care to prompt toilet use where needed.
• Ensure halal dietary requirements are followed during meals; assist with meals if necessary.
