Job summary

Pearson TQ is seeking a passionate Functional Skills Tutor to deliver English and Maths qualifications to apprentices in Colchester. The role combines classroom-based teaching with remote and blended learning, focusing on learner progression and successful outcomes.

You will build strong learner relationships, assess progress, and maintain records while navigating a busy delivery environment across Pearson TQ and employer sites.

Qualifications

• Relevant teaching qualification (e.g. PTLLS, CTLLS, Cert Ed, PGCE, DTLLS or equivalent).
• Minimum Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics.
• Experience delivering Functional Skills English and/or Maths up to Level 2.
• Experience delivering face-to-face and remote learning.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Access to a vehicle and willingness to travel for Pearson TQ business when required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging Functional Skills English and Maths learning programmes at Levels 1 and 2.
• Manage and support a caseload of learners throughout their learning journey.
• Deliver high-quality face-to-face, virtual and blended learning experiences.
• Conduct Functional Skills assessments, including Speaking and Listening assessments and associated awarding body requirements.
• Develop and maintain Individual Learning Plans and learner progress records.
• Monitor learner progress, providing timely interventions and support where required.
