Overview

At Turning Point, we support people across the UK with substance use issues. As an Engagement and Prevention Worker, you'll make a real difference in the community and to their lives as you develop the personal, flexible and realistic support packages they need to help turn things around. Passionate about people, you'll enjoy the scope and support to enhance your own life too, as you make the role your own as part of a friendly and multidisciplinary team. You will work in accordance with Turning Points policies and processes supporting a team of Engagement and Prevention Workers and Criminal Justice Recovery Workers ensuring we deliver on all aspects of our contract.

This full-time, permanent position is a county-wide role where driving is essential. The role would ideally suit someone with experience of the military combined with a social care background. Applications from ex-military personnel and spouses/partners/family are desirable.

Responsibilities
  • Work with complex clients, harm reduction interventions, police custody in-reach, outreach activities and promoting the service, supporting public health campaigns and engaging with hard-to-reach and underrepresented cohorts who may benefit from coming into treatment.
  • Support a team of Engagement and Prevention Workers and Criminal Justice Recovery Workers to deliver on all aspects of the contract.
  • Promote the service to professionals and organisations with the aim of increasing referrals and attend larger community events to raise the profile of Turning Point in Wiltshire.
  • Use outreach and hub-based interventions to support serving and non-serving military personnel in reducing their Alcohol and/or substance use, and work closely with Army and veteran services to develop a robust treatment pathway.
  • Be organised, focused, able to work in a team or independently, and innovative in approach.
  • Engage with supporting services and utilise military/veterans drop-ins to engage/support anyone needing the service.
  • Deliver presentations and workshops and drive the roaming recovery vehicle as part of duties.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Having handled a significant caseload in a busy environment as an Engagement and Prevention Worker, Recovery Worker, Outreach Worker or similar, with a deep understanding of substance use and the Recovery Agenda.
  • Flexibility and knowledge of relapse and other barriers to recovery; excellent communication skills.
  • Preferably with a vocational qualification, such as an NVQ 3 or equivalent.
  • Experience in risk assessments, risk management plans, care planning and reduction plans.
  • IT skills including Word, Excel and Outlook are essential.
  • Full driving licence and access to a car; willingness to work across Trowbridge & Salisbury.
Salary and Career Progression

Starting salary £25,116 with annual pay progression up to £29,383 (dependent on experience you may be offered a starting salary above the initial amount). There are opportunities to progress with a structured learning journey and clearly defined career pathways towards management/leadership roles or as a specialist in the field.
