Job summary

Sense in Birmingham is seeking an Assistant Finance Business Partner (Engagement) to develop management accounting and business partnering skills, providing financial insight to engagement and fundraising teams.

You will work with the Finance Partner to deliver monthly MI, budgets, forecasts and donor-funded reporting, building relationships with budget holders and helping non-finance colleagues understand financial implications.

Qualifications

• Experience in finance or management accounting.
• Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting across multiple cost centres.
• Understanding of management accounting principles and accounting standards.
• Strong Excel skills with large datasets, pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
• Experience using computerised finance systems such as Infor SunSystems.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to explain financial information to non-finance colleagues.
• Willingness to contribute to Sense as a collaborative team member.
• AAT qualification or progress towards ACCA/CIMA or other CCAB qualification advantageous, with charity accounting exposure.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly management accounts preparation, including accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
• Assist with budgets, forecasts and financial reporting across multiple cost centres.
• Analyze financial performance and provide variance commentary.
• Reconcile data between accounting system, Engagement CRM and income sources.
• Support Gift Aid claims preparation and submission.
• Prepare financial reports for donor-funded projects and fundraising activities.
• Support annual audit processes and maintain accurate financial records and controls.
• Work with budget holders and non-finance colleagues to provide financial guidance.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting.
